Here is a frequently asked questions page. Just like businesses, “ordinary people” are confronted with questions. Some questions happen to be asked frequent. Here are some.
How old are you?
What is your name?
Is that your real name?
It’s the name people use when referring to me.
Why is this FAQ in English?
No particular reason. Maybe because FAQ stands for frequently asked questions.
Want to go out for a drink?
Are you hungry?
Is it true that you have a little garden in the south of Amsterdam?
Yes, that is true. As a matter of fact, the garden has a little house on it as well.
What’s with the watch?
Are you a photographer?
What’s with that strange city map in your bedroom?
That, my son/daughter, is a map by Leesbaar Amsterdam.
What’s your favorite book?
Narcissus and Goldmund by Herman Hesse.
You mean Non Phixion? That’s hip hop.
O.k. Thought so.
What is your favorite film?
Hard to say. I liked Annie Hall. I also liked A serious man.
Do you think A serious man is a modern take on the book of Job?
Yes, but only after someone told me to read Job and then watch the movie again.
Is it true that you collect playing cards?
Not really, but then again I do have quite a lot of ’em. They don’t appear out of nowhere…
What do you think of the idea of Homo Sacer, as used by Giorgio Agamben?
I think it is a useful book. We have to keep in mind, though, that Agamben is a philosopher. Taking a more anthropological approach, one comes to see the complexities of daily life.
What is your favorite poem?
The Bluebird by Charles Bukowski.
What is your favorite song?
Difficult question. I know that Waiting around to Die by Townes Van Zandt is one of the nominees.

I guess… For now.
